Dropbox 2.3.11 - app

Dropbox is an easy way to sync files between your Android smartphone and computer, allowing you to share and access your files remotely.

If you haven't used the desktop version before, Dropbox for Windows and Dropbox for Mac both add a special folder to your computer, and anything you put in it is automatically uploaded to the web. This can then be accessed from anywhere else by the account owner.

This Android version of Dropbox works a bit differently, in that it'll mostly be used to access Dropbox files from your online account and open them on your phone. This is assuming the file is in a format that's readable by your smartphone, of course. You can also upload and share pictures and videos you take with your phone pretty quickly.

Dropbox's design might seem relatively sparse, but the functionality is there. This latest version even has photo thumbnails and allows you to delete your files, both of which are very convenient. It's also pretty obvious how to use Dropbox from the outset, so the app is very user friendly. If you're not sure, there are plenty of how-to PDFs included with the app to get you going.

Dropbox also features a public folder. This is designed for files you want to share publicly and easily - put your file there and Dropbox will generate a link that lets anyone who has that link to access the file. It's a really smooth and well thought-out system. The free account is limited to two gigabytes of online storage, but that's not too shabby!

For keeping online file backups, sharing and basic access to files on your computer, Dropbox for Android absolutely can't be beat.
