YouTube by Esunoka is an unofficial YouTube client for Windows Phone that provides fast access to the huge online video catalog.
YouTube Mobile...plus a little more
Disappointingly, Esunoka's YouTube app is little more than a link to the mobile version of YouTube and almost all of the features in this app are the same as the mobile web version. You can search for videos, browse by channels, edit and create playlists, and manage your account details.
Unlike the now-defunct Windows Phone YouTube client from Microsoft, there's no 'download for offline viewing' feature. There's no Live Tile integration either (if you want to incorporate channels and playlists on your start screen, Metrotube is a better option).
Crucially, this YouTube app doesn't include an uploader, so there's no way to pull video off your phone and upload it to YouTube through the app.
What's unique?
The main difference between this YouTube app and the mobile version of the site is a context menu that includes shortcuts to popular videos, live channels and your videos. These features are available in the mobile site, but they are less easy to get at.
The user experience of the YouTube app is generally pretty good, thanks to well placed menus, and you should have no problems getting around the interface. However, it's not really optimized for Windows Phone in any way and doesn't simulate the expected experience of a Windows Phone app.
What's more, there are some errors in the design of the app menu. The bottom menu buttons are incorrectly labeled and don't do what they purport to.
The verdict
In lieu of an official YouTube app for Windows Phone, Esunoka's app offers a quick, easy-access solution. However, it's less of a Windows Phone app and more of a bookmark for the YouTube mobile site!
