Chrome Beta39.0.2171.54 - app

Chrome Beta is a test version of the Chrome browser for Android.

Chrome Beta requires Android 4.0 and higher just like the official app. The app allows Google to test features and updates before they are pushed to the stable Chrome browser. Chrome Beta is slightly unstable and has bugs because of the experimental updates that are being tested.

Features

The newest features in Chrome Beta updates with saved passwords and autofill entries taken from your synced desktop browser. This update also includes "an experimental data compression feature" for bandwidth savings.

Quality

While you should be able to browse normally, Chrome Beta is not meant for normal use. When Google announces a new feature in Chrome Beta, you will be able to test it and help Google develop features in its official browser.

What's new

Our latest release contains stability and performance fixes. More information can be found on the Chrome Releases blog at http://goo.gl/CCPRW

Installation

Clicking the download button will take you to the Google Play Store, where you can download this app.

This app cannot be found through search on Google Play

Difference between versions

Chrome Beta is not a finished app, expect bugs and possible crashes.

Yahoo! Messenger1.8.8 - app

Yahoo! Messenger has been tested by Softonic, but it still doesn't have a review in English.

Opera Browser Beta26.0.1656.85732 - app

The Opera browser for Android is designed to help you do more online while using less data. Its minimalist user interface is easy to use and the technology behind the Opera browser makes loading pages on your phone much faster.

Opera already has two Android browsers, Opera Mobile and Opera Mini, which are exactly the same - except Mini reroutes traffic through Opera servers to compress data.

In with the new...

This newer Opera browser app is a completely redesigned version. While it retains many of the features of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini, the Opera browser looks more modern and adds some new features.

Like Opera Mini, Opera browser offers a Speed Dial feature, which appears when you launch the app. Here you can place shortcuts to your favorite sites for one-click access. Unfortunately, this is the only way to save favorites in Opera browser, and you can't add bookmarks by starring pages like you can with the older Opera browsers.

Slide across to the right from the Speed Dial and you'll access the Discover section. This offers a selection of latest web content from a variety of sources. You can customize this content based on what country you're in and what subjects you're interested in (food, health, sports, technology, etc.)

One of the most important features of the Opera browser is its Off-Road mode. When this is turned on it all of the sites you visit will be compressed to make them faster to load (using the same technology as Opera Mini). This is great if you're using 2G networks or if you want to save on your data plan.

Even more features

Other features of Opera Browser Beta for Android include tabbed browsing, 'Find in Page', a download manager, and the ability to download web pages for offline browsing. The app includes an omnibar which supports search and address entry with auto-complete.

Opera Sync is another feature that has been recently added to the app. Opera Sync allows you to the sync bookmarks that you have on your desktop Opera browser to your Android app (and vice versa).

Navigating with Opera Browser

Using the Speed Dial in Opera browser feels very much like the iOS experience. Shortcuts take the form of icons, which you can pick up and drag around. Like iOS you can create folders out of different web page links by dragging icons on top of each other.

Accessing your browser history with the Opera browser is simpler than it is in most other Android browsers. Slide to the left from the Speed Dial on the front page and you'll see all your recently visited sites listed in a very clear way.

The Android Opera browser allows you to bring up a context menu simply by long-clicking on an item. If it's a link it will give you options for how you want to open it, and if it's an image you'll get the option to save it to your device.

The tabbed browsing experience in the Opera browser is slicker and easier than it is in Opera Mini and Opera Mobile. The panel is larger, meaning you can see more of each page in the preview thumbnail and swiping through the open tabs is smoother. There's a handy drop-down menu next to the tabs for opening a private tab or closing all tabs.

Loading pages using the Opera browser can be very quick, especially in Off Road mode. Although you shouldn't be waiting for pages to load for too long, the inclusion of a progress bar would've been nice for cases where lots of data needs to be downloaded first.

Opera browser users the same WebKit rendering engine used by Safari on iOS and by Google Chrome. It supports web standards very well and during our tests we experienced no problems with pages not displaying properly.

It's a shame that Opera browser doesn't support Flash, or at the very least, Flash Video. If you're a big fan of Flash content you'd be better off with a browser such as Dolphin Browser or Puffin Browser. Check out our post about how to play Flash on Android devices for more.

A smart choice

Opera browser is a smart, user friendly browser that can load web content quickly. It's in beta release and is missing a few features, but we like it.

What's new in the latest version of Opera?

The latest version of the Opera Browser for Android adds a bunch of new features designed to improve your browsing experience. Among the changes are: a new bookmark feature, swipe up to search feature, speed dial + button, and the possibility to edit Speed Dial entries.

Fast for Facebook2.8.0 - app

Fast for Facebook is a social media app that focuses on speed rather than bulk. Unlike other clients that log into Facebook, Fast for Facebook is designed for speed.

Containing all the same options that the official Facebook app offers, Fast for Facebook adds extra security options, different background themes, and an Android 4.0 design.

The app can also add a widget than can be added to your device so you can post to Facebook without opening the app. It is a good way to use Facebook if you have quick updates.

Fast for Facebook is a great app for people who are constantly using Facebook to update their status or look at friends' pages.

The only uneasy thing about Fast for Facebook is the amount of permissions required. Obviously it has to log into Facebook with your credentials and be able to access all the different features, but when you first sign into the app and approve the permissions, it is a surprising sight.

Fast for Facebook is the app to use if you want speed with your connection to Facebook.

UC Browser10.0.1 - app

UC Browser is a quick, sleek internet browser for your Android phone.

There are practically more browsers for Android phones than there are phone models themselves, but if you still haven’t found the one for you, check out UC Browser.

What it brings to the table

UC Browser has a number of features that help it stand out. For a start, the home page has a selection of quick-access links, helpfully divided into topic areas, like Entertainment and UC's own recommendations.

It goes without saying that there's also tabbed browsing, and plenty of tab management options. It's also got a nice window browse function, and a bunch of options that display clearly when your hit the Menu key.

UC Browser also has a number of features that other browsers don’t â€" namely a night mode and share by SMS/Whatsapp. Even so, it doesn’t have any quick features for sharing by other, more common means, like Twitter or Facebook.

How does UC Browser look?

Unfortunately, UC Browser’s main problem is the display - it’s plain ugly. Ok, so it’s clear and easy to read, but webpages viewed with the app look like something from 1993 â€" at first, I thought we had a connection problem!

I also had issues displaying video while using UC Browser, but couldn’t tell from the developer’s website which video formats are supposed to be supported.

What's new

Ad Blocking

Optimized Text Display

Customized Page Color
Choose your favorite background color for any webpage.

New Navigation Page

Less Waiting Time
Wait less when you move from one page to another.

Quicker Startup
Quicker startup when you open the browser.

More choices for playing videos

Conclusion

UC Browser is a mixed bag â€" strong in areas, and weak in others.

uTorrent2.23 - app

With uTorrent, you can exchange files with millions of users worldwide. Unlike uTorrent Remote, which downloads files via the uTorrent software on your PC, this uTorrent client for Android downloads files directly to your mobile device.

Programs like uTorrent and BitTorrent are almost the fastest methods to distribute files over the internet. Millions of users across the world use the software to download media and files, which is now also possible via mobile phones with Android.

Find what you're looking for

uTorrent works in a very simple way: after installation, a smart menu appears from where you can search for torrents and see what's being downloaded. On the left side of the screen, you'll find include a search button and the app's settings.

As with aTorrent, uTorrent nestles in the system and connects itself with your phone's browser. Visit a web page with torrents on it and they will appear as clickable links. You can just click on a link to open the torrent in the uTorrent app right away.

Hungry for memory

Although it works well, uTorrent eats system memory on your Android device and there's s chance that files will fail when downloading them. This is not as much of a problem in aTorrent, although it's an alternative that's loaded with ads.

Despite a tendency to slow your phone down, uTorrent offers a very simple way to download torrents on your phone.

What's new

Easy access to your music via media library.
